Wigmore Hall’s Seven Ages Festival Culminates in Lord Mayor of Westminster’s Gala Concert and Joseph Phibbs World Première
Wigmore Hall’s first-ever Learning Festival Seven Ages culminates on Friday 23 February in a special gala concert for the Lord Mayor of Westminster, which will raise funds for Age UK Westminster and the Social Mobility Foundation.
The concert features a glittering array of established and emerging artists, including Ailish Tynan (soprano), Anna Huntley (mezzo-soprano), Ilker Arcayürek (tenor), Stephan Loges (bass-baritone) and Graham Johnson (piano), and will begin with rising star actor Fehinti Balogun reciting Shakespeare’s ‘All the world’s a stage’ soliloquy from As You Like It.
This soliloquy is then set to music in a new work by Joseph Phibbs, which will receive its world première at the concert, alongside a programme of songs by Poulenc, Britten, Schubert, Schumann, Mahler and Gilbert & Sullivan. All of this music will reflect the different stages of life and the diversity of the Hall’s work for people of all ages.
