John Gilhooly, Director of Wigmore Hall, proudly announces the 2015/16 Season at Wigmore Hall, including 460 concerts and 460 Learning events.

Season highlights include:

  • An ambitious survey of Schubert: The Complete Songs with the world’s leading soloists, stretching to 40 concerts over two season
  • A five-concert series for mezzo-soprano Magdalena Kožená, which includes a first UK recital with her husband Sir Simon Rattle on piano, making his Wigmore Hall debut
  • An eight-concert Bartók Chamber Music series to include all six string quartets performed by the Heath Quartet and two recitals by violinist James Ehnes
  • Henry Purcell: A Retrospective continues with eight concerts, including a complete Dido and Aeneas and a rare recital with countertenors Iestyn Davies and Andreas Scholl
  • A strengthened commitment to new music with more than 40 Wigmore Hall commissions by composers such as Sally Beamish, Sir Harrison Birtwistle, Sir Peter Maxwell Davies, Pascal Dusapin and Thomas Larcher
  • Artist residencies from cellist Jean-Guihen Queyras, baritone Christian Gerhaher and The Sixteen
  • An on-going investment in emerging talent including a celebration of young British pianist James Baillieu and a four-concert series with Russian pianist Igor Levit
